Frequently asked questions

I want to travel with oxygen. What do I have to think about?

First talk to your physician to make sure you are in the right condition for the trip you plan. For safety reasons most airlines do not allow patients to bring their own oxygen systems on board but supply patients themselves during the flight. Please bear in mind that your breathing capacity might be different on a plane as the pressure is lower than normally. If oxygen is needed at your destination, get in touch with your local supplier for national trips or OXYTRAVEL® for international trips to ensure an on-time and complete delivery.

I need supplemental oxygen. Do I need a different flow if I am on a plane?

Before you take your flight, please contact your physician. As the pressure on a plane is lower than on sea-level, your problems might increase. Airlines can provide oxygen on board, but the flow needs to be set according to your probably changed needs.

I have heard that Linde Gas Therapeutics supports research related to the clinical use of gases. How do I apply for such funding?

We have established the GEMI Fund in co-operation with Harvard Medical International, Boston, MA, USA and the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. The next application period starts early 2007. To read more about the GEMI Fund, go to www.gemifund.org
